Osterseen

Osterseen is a group of freshwater lakes in Bavaria used for daytime swimming from late morning to late afternoon. Access is through informal paths leading from parking areas and local roads to grass banks and natural water edges. The shoreline has mixed textile and nude bathing sections, so check the section before undressing and remain within established nude areas. The surface is mainly grass with earth, reeds and natural lake bottoms, and much of the bank has open sun with limited tree shade. Summer conditions are generally mild to warm, but the water is often cool, so short careful swims suit many visitors. There is no permanent lifeguard supervision, so swim within ability and stay near the bank. Facilities are minimal. Toilet provision is limited or absent at informal spots, there are no showers at the natural shoreline, and there is no permanent food service. Bring drinking water, food, sun protection, a towel, swim shoes if useful on natural ground, and bags to remove rubbish. Parking is available near lake access points and charges may apply, especially in summer. On warm afternoons parking areas can fill, so arrival earlier in the day makes access easier. Regional rail and bus connections serve nearby villages, followed by walking to the lakes, so allow time for the final walk. Typical visits last half a day for swimming and resting. Dogs may be restricted near bathing areas, so keep dogs leashed where permitted and away from swim sections. Use during daylight hours, as the open lakeshore has no fixed opening hours.
