Budleigh Salterton faces the sea as a long, open pebble beach backed by the town seafront and cliffs. Access is open and public, with entry from the seafront and then a walk along the shore. The shore is open and exposed to sun, with reflection from pebbles and water. There is little natural shade, while cliffs and town buildings give limited shelter from wind. Summers are generally mild with changeable wind and sea conditions, and winter is cool and exposed. June to September offers the most practical season for a beach stay. The area near town is busier in summer and generally quieter at other times. Privacy is limited near town and improves farther along the shore. Naturist use is informal and concentrated away from the main town frontage. Walk well clear of families, walkers and anglers before undressing, and remain dressed where the beach is busy. There is no admission fee expected for beach access. There is no food service on the beach itself; cafes and shops are available in the nearby town. Public toilets are available in town, with no showers expected on the beach. Public parking is available in town within walking distance of the seafront. Bus service reaches Budleigh Salterton town, followed by a short walk to the seafront. Bring water, food, sun protection, warm layers, sturdy footwear and a thick ground mat.
