The surface is grassy bank and natural reservoir bottom, with scattered trees and limited natural shade. Sun exposure is strong at midday, so sun protection, a ground cover, swim footwear, drinking water and food are important for a stay without services. No food outlets, toilets, showers or lifeguard service are expected, so everything needed for comfort and hygiene should be carried in and carried out again. Swimming is at personal risk in still, generally calm and cool water with variable depth and a natural bottom. Careful entry, slow acclimatisation to cool water, and staying within comfortable depth are sensible precautions. The practical season centers on summer, mainly June to August, and midday and afternoon offer the warmest water and most sun. Typical stays last a few hours. Dogs may be present, so keeping animals leashed and away from swimming areas is prudent. Families comfortable with natural sites without services can visit, but all visitors need full self-sufficiency and careful water entry, along with discretion where textile and nude use overlap.
