Playa del Muerto

Playa del Muerto is an undeveloped pebble and rock beach in the Almuñécar area of Andalusia, Spain. It is listed for naturist use and is generally quiet, with naturism practised and accepted alongside swimwear nearby. There is no admission fee expected for beach access and no fixed opening hours, with use concentrated in daytime. The warm dry period from June to September brings the most settled conditions, while weather outside summer is cooler and more variable. Morning and late afternoon offer milder sun and calmer conditions for a stay of a few hours. Access is on foot using established paths, with an uneven rocky approach. The route is not wheelchair accessible and is better suited to independent adults. Wear sturdy footwear for the walk and for the pebbly shore. There is no dedicated beach parking, so use parking in the nearby urban area and allow time to walk in and out. There is no direct public transport to the beach, with the nearest services in Almuñécar. Bring water, food, sun protection, swim footwear and a bag for rubbish, as there are no shops, toilets, showers or lifeguard service. Sun exposure is high with little natural shade through midday. In the water, expect clear conditions with pebbly entry and rocky areas, changing with wind and swell. Dogs are not generally expected, and local rules may apply in summer. Plan for a simple self-supported visit with everything carried in and out, keeping the stay to daylight hours and checking wind and sea conditions before setting out on the coastal path.
