Mission Flats

Mission Flats is a public riverbank near Kamloops in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, reported for clothing-optional use in parts of the shoreline. Access is informal with no controlled entry, and use is shared with clothed visitors. The surface is sand, gravel and natural riverbank ground, mostly open with little natural shade and high sun exposure. Plan for uneven ground underfoot and bring footwear suitable for gravel and river edges. The practical season centres on summer, from June to August, when warm daytime conditions make sunbathing and swimming more comfortable. Winters are cold and unsuitable for naturist use. Midday is generally warmest, while mornings and evenings can feel cool near the water. Most visits last a few hours during daylight. There are no toilets, showers, food or drink services, shade structures or lifeguard service. Bring drinking water, food, sun protection, a shade cover if needed, towels and bags to carry out all waste. River water is cool with changing levels and currents, and swimming is unsupervised. Enter the water with care, stay in shallow areas if uncertain, and avoid swimming alone. Crowds are generally low, with more visitors possible on warm summer days. Parking is informal near the access area without a developed lot, and access is generally by private vehicle because no direct public transport serves the site.
