Ellerstrand Noord sits on the Veluwemeer near Dronten, in the Flevoland recreation landscape. Arrival is generally by car or bicycle from Dronten using local roads, followed by a short walk from the parking area to the shore. Parking is generally available near the access point and beach access is free, including the northern section listed for naturist use. Public transport is limited, so check connections before travel and allow extra time if cycling from Dronten. The beach surface combines sand near the water with grass behind, suitable for towels, wind shelters and a picnic during a two to four hour stay. Natural shade is limited to scattered trees and low dunes, while the shoreline itself is largely exposed to sun and wind. Bring sun protection, drinking water, food and a bag for waste, as no shops stand directly on the beach and self-sufficiency matters. Basic toilets may be available seasonally near parking areas, while showers are unlikely and should not be expected. Swimming is in sheltered Veluwemeer lake water, generally calm and shallow near shore and most comfortable from June to August. No lifeguard supervision is expected, so swim within ability and supervise children closely at all times. The open setting has limited visual screening, so expect an exposed layout and keep to the northern section for naturist use. Dogs are often restricted or kept on a lead during bathing season, with rules varying by section and signs to follow. Summer from June to August gives the mildest air and water for a visit, especially late morning to afternoon. Outside summer the site stays open year-round, but conditions are cooler and windier and use is mainly during daylight.
