Crique de la DOUANE

Crique de la Douane is an undeveloped sea cove near Ramatuelle in the Var, best approached as a short coastal outing rather than a full-service beach visit. Access is open on foot, with marked paths and private land boundaries to respect. The final approach and shoreline can be uneven, with sand, rocks and slippery sections, so wear secure footwear and take care when entering the water. The water is generally clear Mediterranean water, calm in settled weather, but entry is rocky in places and conditions can change. There is no admission fee expected for beach access, and there are no gated hours, although daylight use is the practical pattern. There are no toilets, showers, lifeguard service, food vendors or rentals at the cove. Bring drinking water, food, sun protection, swim shoes if useful, and a bag for waste. Natural shade is limited and sun exposure is high, especially around midday in summer. The Mediterranean pattern brings warm dry summers and milder shoulder seasons, with strong summer heat and sun. June through September offers the warmest conditions for swimming and sunbathing, while mornings often bring calmer water and fewer people. Parking is not at the cove itself, so expect to park farther away and walk. Public transport is limited, making a private vehicle plus walking the usual pattern. Dogs are often restricted on Var beaches in season, so check local signs. A typical stay lasts a few hours for swimming and sunbathing, as the lack of facilities and small size do not support long days.
